Winter Conference: Competition and Audition Preparation

Dates: January 4-8, 2017
Guest Artist: Sivan Magen
Location: The Butler School of Music at The University of Texas, Austin.
Registration Deadline: December 15, 2016

At a weekend of intensive study in “The Live Music Capitol of the World”, students will work with Israel Competition Winner and internationally acclaimed soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue, Sivan Magen, to hone their competition and audition repertoire and prepare to take the stage. Students will receive private lessons with Magen, participate in master classes and attend workshops focused on musical interpretation. The weekend will culminate in a performance opportunity and participants will perform for a panel, which will include Magen and members of the Butler School of Music Faculty.

Session I: European Mastery

Dates: July 5-9
Faculty: Lynne Aspnes
Guest Artist: Sivan Magen

The only summer workshop with Sivan Magen in the United States, participants will have the opportunity to attend three intensive masterclasses, focusing on sound, musicianship, and historically informed performance practices. Students can register for individual lessons with Magen for an additional charge.

Session II: Cool Nights & Hot Jazz

Dates: July 5-10

The only opportunity students will have to work with Park Stickney in the United States this summer, “Cool Nights & Hot Jazz” will include three 2-hour group workshops and one personalized session for each student focusing on jazz and improvisation techniques.

Session III: Combined Package European Mastery AND Cool Nights & Hot Jazz
